Kittilä means Levi for almost every booking here: a sauna chalet close to Levi's 43 pistes, 15 km from the airport. Nearly all homes have a sauna. The catch is demand, as Finnish school holiday weeks in February and March sell out months ahead.
Our Kittilä homes are almost all in Levi, the ski resort in the village of Sirkka, 17 km from Kittilä itself, so expect a resort rather than a Lapland market town. They sit in a compact cluster around Levitunturi, a 531 metre fell with two gondolas, 43 pistes and a vertical drop of 325 metres. Beginners and children start at Leevilandia on the South Slopes, which has its own magic carpets and a warm-up room. The season usually runs from October into mid-May, opening on the front slopes, and the FIS World Cup slalom comes to Levi in mid-November. Evenings mean the village restaurants or your own sauna, then a look at the sky, since aurora viewing starts at the end of August. Kittilä village, with about 2,200 people, is the quiet service centre for the municipality.

A chain of fells about 100 km long, partly in Kittilä, crossed by the Hetta to Pallas trail, Finland's oldest marked hiking route.
Kittilä airport is 15 km south of Levi, about a ten minute drive, and an airport bus meets each domestic flight. easyJet starts winter flights from London Luton on 24 November 2026 and from Liverpool on 25 November, TUI flies from several UK airports, and Finnair also serves Kittilä. A car is optional in the village.
Downhill skiing opens on the front slopes in October and runs into May, while cross-country starts in October on stored snow. March is usually the best month, though Finnish school holidays make February and March the peak weeks. The sun stays below the horizon from about 14 to 29 December. Autumn colours peak in mid-September, and mosquitoes are worst from Midsummer to the end of July.
No. Kittilä is the municipality and its small main village, while Levi is the ski resort in Sirkka village, 17 km from Kittilä village. Nearly all our Kittilä homes are in Levi, but check the address before booking.
Not if you stay in Levi. The airport bus meets every domestic flight, and our homes sit in a compact cluster around the fell. A car is useful for trips to Ylläs or Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park.
Kittilä airport, 15 km south of Levi and about ten minutes by road. easyJet flies from London Luton and Liverpool from late November 2026, TUI runs winter flights from several UK airports, and Finnair also serves it.
Yes, especially in winter. Levi's Leevilandia area on the South Slopes has magic carpets, a toboggan run and an indoor warm-up space, and the Werneri ski school teaches children in groups. Most chalets have a sauna and sleep around six.
Pick Levi for the larger resort, with 43 pistes and the shortest airport transfer. Pick Ylläs, 39 km from Kittilä airport, for a quieter base and around 330 km of cross-country trails, 38 km of them lit.
Yes. Aurora viewing at Levi starts at the end of August, is more frequent in autumn than in deep winter, and lasts until April. Clear skies are the deciding factor, so give yourself several nights.
