Krk town suits pool stays near the old town on the island's south-west coast, about 25 minutes from Rijeka airport. Homes lie around the wider town, not inside the walls, so check each map pin.
Krk town had 6,816 residents in 2021 across 15 settlements and 107 square kilometres, and it is the largest settlement on the island. The old centre keeps parts of the walls built under Venetian rule, a Romanesque cathedral built mostly in the 11th and 12th centuries and the Frankopan Castle beside Kamplin park. Roman baths from the 1st century were found next to the cathedral. Our homes are mostly around the wider town, spread over about seven kilometres. Most have a private pool, nearly all are air-conditioned, and the typical home has two bedrooms and sleeps about five, with some larger villas. You drive to the old town from most of them.

Rijeka airport is on Krk near Omišalj, about 25 minutes by car, with Ryanair flying from London Stansted seasonally. Arriva buses link Omišalj and Krk bus station in about 40 minutes, but the homes are spread out, so most visitors hire a car at the airport.
Krk has recorded close to 39 degrees in July and minus 9 in January, so summers can be hot and winters cold. The Ryanair link from London is seasonal, so summer has the easiest flights. In November 2008 a strong sirocco flooded the town during record waves in the Kvarner Gulf, a reminder that winter can be rough.
Yes. The Krk Bridge, 1,430 metres long and opened in July 1980, joins the island to the mainland, and Rijeka airport is on the island itself, so there is no ferry on the way in.
Krk town if you want the largest settlement on the island, with 6,816 residents, a cathedral and a castle. Baška is smaller, at 1,668 people, and known for the Baška tablet from about 1100.
Yes. Parts of the walls from the Venetian period survive, the Romanesque cathedral dates mostly from the 11th and 12th centuries, and Roman baths found beside it were excavated between 1956 and 1963.
Around 25 minutes by car, because the airport stands near Omišalj on the same island. An Arriva bus from Omišalj to Krk bus station takes about 39 minutes, though a hire car makes the scattered homes easier.
It can. In late November 2008 a strong sirocco flooded the town during record waves in the Kvarner Gulf. Winters are not routinely like that, but the record low is minus 9 degrees.
