Villas listed under Bodrum, Turkey are in fact around Hisarönü near Ölüdeniz and Fethiye, about three hours' drive from Bodrum. They suit larger families: every home has a pool and a garden, and several have a sauna. If you want Bodrum's marinas and nightlife, these homes are on the wrong side of the region.
Bodrum itself is a peninsula town around the Castle of St Peter, a 15th-century fortress of the Knights Hospitaller that houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, with three big marinas around the peninsula. That is not where these homes are. They are mapped around Hisarönü and its neighbour Ovacık, resort villages in Fethiye district, first built up to house visitors to Ölüdeniz, about 205 km from Bodrum by road. Hisarönü was a basic village in 1990 and is now a resort popular with British holidaymakers, nicknamed the Mountain Town. At Ölüdeniz itself the lagoon is protected and building there is forbidden. The homes are family-sized, mostly sleeping eight, all with pools, gardens and air conditioning.
The Blue Lagoon, about 14 km south of Fethiye: a pebble beach, a sandy bay at the lagoon mouth and paragliders drawn by nearby Mount Babadağ.
Abandoned Greek village about 8 km south of Fethiye, with around 500 ruined houses kept as a protected museum village.
About three hours and a quarter by car, for the Castle of St Peter, though renovation since 2017 has left only parts open.
Fly to Dalaman, not Milas-Bodrum. Dalaman is about 55 km from Hisarönü, just under an hour by car, with flights from London Gatwick and Stansted all year and from many UK airports in summer. Milas-Bodrum airport serves the Bodrum peninsula instead. A hire car or transfer is the practical choice.
No. Although they are listed under Bodrum, our map data places them around Hisarönü and Ovacık near Fethiye, about 205 km and three hours' drive from Bodrum town. For a home on the Bodrum peninsula itself, look at our Turgutreis listing instead.
Dalaman. These homes are about 55 km from Dalaman airport, under an hour by road. Milas-Bodrum airport, 36 km north-east of Bodrum town, serves the peninsula on the far side of the region and would leave you with a long drive.
Every home in this listing has a pool and a garden, and several also have a sauna. They are family-sized, most sleeping eight, and all have air conditioning.
Mostly pebble. The main beach at Ölüdeniz is pebbly, while the bay at the mouth of the lagoon is sandy. The lagoon itself is protected and building there is forbidden, which is why Hisarönü was first developed to house visitors to Ölüdeniz.
