About Parpan
Parpan stands at 1,493 m in the Churwalden valley between Chur and Lenzerheide, and has only a few hundred residents. It was first recorded in 1208 and since 2010 has been part of the Churwalden municipality. A small castle, the Schlössli, built in the mid-16th century and extended in 1675, stands near a late-Gothic church and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. Our homes are tightly grouped. None has a private garden or a pool, and they mostly sleep around four, with a good number having a fireplace. The Parpan cross-country centre starts a 12 km loop to Mittelberg and Capfeders, and the village has its own access to the Rothorn slopes.
Is Parpan right for you?
- Best for
- Quiet ski weeks and cross-country, away from the main resort
- Not for you if
- You want a garden or a pool, because none of the homes here has either.

Check conditions before setting off on the cross-country loop, as it can be blocked or interrupted.

Parpan villa holidays: questions answered
Is Parpan part of the Lenzerheide ski area?
Yes. Parpan gives access to the Rothorn slopes, and is one of five named locations in the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area. The area has 225 km of slopes and 43 lifts.
Is Parpan good for cross-country skiing?
Yes. The Parpan cross-country centre starts a signposted 12 km loop to Mittelberg and Capfeders. It is rated difficult overall, though the stretch to Mittelberg suits beginners, and there is a gentle triangle loop in the village.
Is Parpan a village or part of Lenzerheide?
It is a separate small village in the Churwalden valley between Chur and Lenzerheide, now part of the Churwalden municipality. It has its own cross-country centre and its own access to the Rothorn slopes.
Does Parpan have anything to see?
A little. The Schlössli, a small castle from the mid-16th century extended in 1675, has towers and a balcony and is a heritage site of national significance. A late-Gothic church stands near it.
What is Parpan like in summer?
Quiet, and a base for walking and mountain biking, which are popular across the Arosa Lenzerheide region. Our homes here have no pool, so plan days out.
