Saanenmöser is one of the villages of Saanen municipality, alongside Gstaad, Schönried and Saanen itself. It takes its name from the Saanenmöser Pass, where the metre-gauge line from Montreux reaches its highest point, about 1,270 m, before descending the Simmen Valley to Zweisimmen. Snow Park Hornberg is at Saanenmöser. An easy, signposted 4 km loop links the village with Schönried, its first half beside the railway, with only about 70 m of climb. Homes sit close together, mostly sleeping four to six, a few up to nine, and some have a garden. After dark it is low-key, and Gstaad has more going on.
