Ringgenberg is a small village on Lake Brienz, suiting couples and small families who want lake swims and walks near Interlaken. It has no resort strip, and none of the homes has a pool.
Ringgenberg is a municipality of about 2,600 people on the northern shore of Lake Brienz, north-east of Interlaken, and it includes the neighbouring village of Goldswil. Its church was built in 1670 in the ruins of Ringgenberg Castle, and a harbour built in 1888 let steamships dock at the village. Between Ringgenberg and Goldswil lies the small Burgseeli, a lido overlooking Lake Brienz with a sheltered setting and pleasantly warm water. The homes are clustered in the village, mostly for two to four people, with a garden at more than half. None has a pool. The village has its own station and an hourly postbus, so evenings out mean a short trip into Interlaken.

From Zurich, the drive takes about an hour and a half; by train, go from Zurich main station to Interlaken Ost and change. Ringgenberg has its own station on the Brünig line, with an hourly regional train between Interlaken and Meiringen, so a car is useful but not essential.
The Burgseeli lido is popular with swimmers and sunbathers from early summer, and the village puts on entertainment through the summer season, so that is the liveliest time. An hourly train and postbus keep Ringgenberg workable without a car in any month, and boat timetables vary, so check before relying on the lake.
At the Burgseeli, a natural bathing lido on the small lake between Ringgenberg and Goldswil. It is sheltered, the water is pleasantly warm, and it is popular from early summer. No home here has a pool.
For a quieter stay, yes. Ringgenberg lies just north-east of Interlaken, linked by an hourly regional train and postbus, and it sits directly on Lake Brienz, with a harbour built for steamships.
Largely. The village has its own station on the Brünig line, with an hourly train each way between Interlaken and Meiringen, plus an hourly postbus. Brienz is around 14 minutes away by train.
A church built in 1670 in the ruins of Ringgenberg Castle, the small Burgseeli lake, the Schlossweid village museum and the Planet Trail between Ringgenberg and Goldswil.
Quiet, and well connected. The hourly train and postbus run into Interlaken, but the Burgseeli and most of the village's entertainment belong to summer, so treat winter as a calm base.
