Città della Pieve is a hilltop town overlooking Lake Trasimeno and the Chiana Valley, about 260 m above the valley floor. Its medieval buildings are made of local brick, and the painter Perugino was born here. In 1504 he painted the whole back wall of Santa Maria dei Bianchi with an Adoration of the Magi. The Vicolo Baciadonne is only about 80 cm wide, and the alleys open onto views of Monte Amiata and the Sibillini. Most homes here have a private pool and a garden, and about half have a sauna. In June the town lays flower carpets for the Infiorata.
