Colli Fontanelle suits couples who want hilltop views over both the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, above Sorrento. Few homes here have a pool, and without a car you depend on a bus that runs only every couple of hours.
Colli di Fontanelle is a hamlet of Sant'Agnello spread over the hilltops of the Sorrento peninsula, with its main square, Piazza Carlo Sagristani, at 318 metres. From the square you look down over Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, Piano di Sorrento and Meta to the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. From Picco Sant'Angelo, the highest point at 465 metres, the view turns south to the Gulf of Salerno and the Li Galli islets. The name comes from the many springs that once ran here. The homes are fairly close together, mostly small with gardens, though a few sleep eight or more; around half have air conditioning.
The town spread below the square's viewpoint, around 8 minutes away by taxi or about 20 minutes by bus.

Three islets in the Gulf of Salerno, seen from the hilltop, traditionally linked to the Sirens of Homer's Odyssey.
Naples is the airport. The drive to Sant'Agnello takes around 50 minutes, and trains run from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi to Sant'Agnello about every half hour. Buses from Sorrento's Piazza Lauro serve the hills only every couple of hours, so a car or taxi is easier.
The first week of August brings traditional games to the main square, a custom running since 1999, and each September a three-day fair of local farm produce draws plenty of visitors.
On both sides. The main square looks north over Sorrento to the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, and from the hilltop you can see south to the Gulf of Salerno and the Li Galli islets.
Taxi is quickest, at about 8 minutes. A bus links the hills with Sorrento's Piazza Lauro in roughly 20 minutes, but services run only every two hours or so.
No. It is a hamlet of Sant'Agnello, lying on the hills a little over 2 km in a straight line from Sant'Agnello's centre.
Realistically, yes, or budget for taxis. The walk down to Sorrento takes about an hour and buses run only every couple of hours.
