Boltenhagen is a seaside resort on the Baltic in the Klützer Winkel. The sandy beach runs for several kilometres with a green, level promenade behind it. The pier, rebuilt in 1992, is about 290 m long, no longer serves ships and gives views along the beach, the cliffs and across to Poel island. West of the centre the cliffs rise to 35 m and are prone to erosion and falling rocks, so keep back from them. The homes are spread around the resort, mostly small, sleeping up to six, and many have a garden. The Kurpark has a concert shell, and the resort runs a programme of more than 300 events.

The events programme runs to more than 300 events, with regular concerts in the Kurpark concert shell and frequent ones at the church at Paulshöhe, and a green market is held on the promenade every other Tuesday. The climbing park opens from mid-April to early November, and the tourist tax is lower from October to April. Check café opening times before an off-season visit.
