About Bredebro
Bredebro is a railway town of about 1,400 people on the Bramming to Tønder line, 14 km north of Tønder and 34 km south of Ribe. It was where the ECCO shoe company began. The homes are spread over about 11 km, and their median position is some 10 km west of the town, out in the marshland at the edge of the Wadden Sea National Park, around Ballum. Expect open marsh, birdwatching and the North Sea Cycle Route, which runs right past Ballum. The real beach is on Rømø, about 20 minutes away. Many homes here sleep eight or more, and a few are built for large groups. Evenings are quiet, and winter is when the animal life on the marsh is at its richest.
Is Bredebro right for you?
- Best for
- Large groups and bird-watchers who will drive to Rømø's beach
- Not for you if
- You want to walk to the sea or to a village with restaurants, because the marsh and Rømø both need a car.

Summer is the beach season on Rømø, with lifeguards on duty, and Bredebro itself stays quiet.
