About Rab/Rab
Rab town is the main town of an island of about 7,000 people, set on a small peninsula on the south-west side. Four church bell towers, the oldest from the 11th century, are the symbol of both town and island. Our homes are scattered around the town over a few kilometres, mostly houses and apartments for around four with two bedrooms; over a third have a pool, over half a garden, and nearly all are air-conditioned. Sand is not on the doorstep. The island's largest and best-known sandy beach, Rajska plaža, is at Lopar in the north-east and flies a Blue Flag, and Lopar has several others including San Marino and Sahara. The island's highest point, Kamenjak, rises to 408 metres.

Summer is when the island is most active. Rabska fjera, billed as the first and largest medieval summer festival in Croatia, runs for three days in July, with old crafts, old dishes and knights' games. Lopar's sandy beaches suit warm-weather days. Ryanair's Stansted flights to Rijeka are seasonal, so a winter stay needs another route; check ferry timetables first.
