Sankt Anton am Arlberg is a Tyrolean ski village on the Rosanna river, best for keen skiers who want the large Ski Arlberg area. Most homes are modest in size and few have a pool or sauna, and the village is busy in the ski season.
Sankt Anton sits at about 1,300 metres in the Landeck district, with the ski area climbing to 2,811 metres. The homes are spread around the village rather than in one block, so the walk to a lift varies a lot. Evenings are built around the après-ski bars and discos, and the village is at its liveliest in winter. The village hosted the 2001 Alpine World Ski Championships. In summer it draws walkers and mountaineers, including on the Verwall Circuit hut-hopping tour. Check that lifts, restaurants and bars are open before travelling in the shoulder weeks. Homes tend to be compact, mostly for two to six, and only a few sleep eight or more.

Sankt Anton has its own railway station, a stop on international trains between Zurich and Budapest. By road the village is reached on the A14 motorway from Vorarlberg. A car is handy for homes at the edge of the village, but free local buses run to Pettneu, Schnann and Flirsch.

The ski season runs from early December to late April. Dates at either end depend on the lifts, so check the opening date before booking.
