About Rohrbach
Rohrbach is a village of about 1,500 people at around 584 m on the Langete, in the Oberaargau district of canton Bern and the Swiss Mittelland. The whole village is in the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites, and traditional farmhouses still shape it. It was first mentioned in 795, and it was sold to Bern in 1504. St Martin's Church stands in a building from 1738, and a memorial stone to the painter and sculptor Karl Alfred Lanz stands in its churchyard. Fewer farms are worked today, and craft and trade businesses now shape the village. Its station, on the line between Langenthal and Huttwil, opened in 1889.
