Cap Malheureux village
The village is known for its small red-roofed church on the shore, looking out to the island of Coin de Mire. Fishing boats pull up on the beach, and catamaran trips to Coin de Mire, Flat Island and Ile Gabriel leave from this coast and from Grand Baie. There are a few small restaurants and shops. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam airport is around an hour and a quarter away.
Best for: Couples who want sunsets, a fishing village feel and boat trips
Not for you if: You want a wide sandy beach on the doorstep: the shore by the village is narrow and rocky in places.
