Bayahibe village and harbour
Bayahibe began as a fishing village and still has a small harbour where most of the Saona Island boats and dive trips leave each morning. Around it are a handful of streets with seafood restaurants, small bars and grocery shops. Things are lively when the day-trip coaches arrive and quieter by late afternoon. Punta Cana airport is around an hour away and La Romana's small airport about 25 minutes.
Best for: Couples and divers who want to walk to the boats and seafront restaurants
Not for you if: You want a long beach outside the door: the village beach is small and busy with boats in the morning.
