The combination of a very good summer climate, nature and excellent beaches the Costa Brava has often been considered only as a package holiday, fish n chips and sangria destination, a stereotype based on only a few tourist areas of the coast. The real Costa Brava is a diverse region of extraordinary natural beauty and heritage with small hidden coves, cliffs and pine forests meeting the sea shore and long sandy beaches the Costa Brava is uniquely and authentically Spanish.

Spaniards enjoy gathering in bars before their typical lunchtime meal over three hour period in which most business comes to a halt and temporarily satisfy their hunger with tapas and a glass of beer or wine. Tapas represent a Spanish way of life, and there is no better way to partake in the life of the country than by experiencing this time honoured tradition.

Escape to the sun and enjoy a Costa Brava villa holiday. A holiday in Spain with its unspoiled coves, rugged coastline and picturesque bays, is a popular destination for families, couples to enjoy cheap holidays, discover cheap holidays using our villa finder on our homepage; find the perfect accommodation to suit your needs.

For a fantastic location, lots to see and do and with prices that won’t hurt the wallet, Costa Brava holiday resorts are a great choice for the whole family.

If you are looking for a little something different to do on your holidays this year, then La Tomatina festival in Spain might be for you. The normally sleepy town of Bunol inland from Valencia is transformed in to one huge tomato party for one day every year.

There are many theories on how this fiesta began that now involves trucks loaded full of tomatoes are driven into the town to let 30,000 people start chucking them around after having a good soaking in water. This tomato riot lasts for one hour but is part of a week long fiesta in the town with musical bands, fireworks and as normal with Spanish town fiestas lots of great food.

La tomatina is held on the last wednesday of August during the day and once the final blast signals the end of the tomato riot the town is quickly hosed down leaving little reminder of what had just happened until the next year. This is not for the faint hearted and you will not want to attend in your best summer outfit as you will get covered head to toe in fresh salsa but has got to be on most peoples list of things to see.

Here are a selection of villas in Spain that can be booked for this week that are within easy reach of Bunol and La Tomatina festival, there are plenty of trains running from Valencia to get visitors in to Bunol for the fiesta as this is a small town and there will be a lot of visitors there on the day it is advisable to use the train as there may be limited places to park. Do not worry there will be lots of other people on the train in their old tshirts and shorts;

This is a busy town unlike many of the tourist havens along the coast who target the holiday maker this is a bustling working town, Coin remains a working town.

There is a busy weekly market in the towns Feria ground with a great selection of fruit and vegetables being sold by local producers and of course a selection of things that you never thought you needed at cheap prices.

A modern shopping centre with a large supermarket, Burger King, numerous shops and a multi screen cinema is located on the edge of town called La ‘Trocha’

A few miles out of the town of Coin is the abandoned television set for the soap ‘Eldorado’ that ended after 156 episodes, I am sure that most people will remember the series even if they will not admit to watching it.
