Book villas in Spain for La Tomatina
If you are looking for a little something different to do on your holidays this year, then La Tomatina festival in Spain might be for you. The normally sleepy town of Bunol inland from Valencia is transformed in to one huge tomato party for one day every year.
There are many theories on how this fiesta began that now involves trucks loaded full of tomatoes are driven into the town to let 30,000 people start chucking them around after having a good soaking in water. This tomato riot lasts for one hour but is part of a week long fiesta in the town with musical bands, fireworks and as normal with Spanish town fiestas lots of great food.
La tomatina is held on the last wednesday of August during the day and once the final blast signals the end of the tomato riot the town is quickly hosed down leaving little reminder of what had just happened until the next year. This is not for the faint hearted and you will not want to attend in your best summer outfit as you will get covered head to toe in fresh salsa but has got to be on most peoples list of things to see.
Here are a selection of villas in Spain that can be booked for this week that are within easy reach of Bunol and La Tomatina festival, there are plenty of trains running from Valencia to get visitors in to Bunol for the fiesta as this is a small town and there will be a lot of visitors there on the day it is advisable to use the train as there may be limited places to park. Do not worry there will be lots of other people on the train in their old tshirts and shorts;

Guide to selecting the perfect holiday villa – Size
There are many things that you need to consider and take into account when booking a private villa instead of a packaged holiday that many people forget to check before travelling.Size of property – the size of the villa or apartment can vary depending on the country/resort. What is an acceptable sized property in the holiday destination may not be what you expect. Make sure that you have chosen a property for your needs.
If you are planning to be out around the pool all day and out partying all night then a save your pennies for spending money and rent a small apartment but if you are planning to take small children away and plan to spend most of your time in a private villa with a pool then space is what you need. Spending a little bit more to get a larger accommodation will ensure you have a better holiday.
Guide to selecting the perfect holiday villa – Activities
There is a growing trend for activity based holidays with many of the larger travel companies struggling to cater for everybody’s requirements all of the time. We have accommodation that is located in some of the best outdoor activity centres of Europe. Do not discount the main winter destinations just for ski and snow board holidays most of the resorts need to stay open all year to survive and put on many activities all year round.
There are some excellent hiking routes in the ski areas and why not rest your legs a bit and take the ski lift up to the top, you my be sharing the ski lift with a few mountain bikes on the way up as the ski runs are turned over to downhill mountain biking over the summer months. There are quite a few groups that book canoe trips down the many great rivers in France that can be booked for a great day out with a difference.
Guide to selecting the perfect holiday villa – Location
How far from the airport, beach, town centre, night life, pool and activities. Many of the larger villas will be out of town away from the main strip in quite locations which may require you to hire a car to get to the accommodation or to nip out to the shops. You may not wish to drive abroad as this can add an unwanted stress to your holiday but you may be missing out on many of the hidden treasures located just out of town.
Check for resort transfer from the airport as many low cost airlines provide a local shuttle service from the airports to the main areas including return travel to the airport timed with their departure times. It may also be good to check for the local train services from the airport as these can be much cheaper than paying for a taxi or transfer service and be much quicker as there will not be so many drop offs on route. You may be pleasantly surprised on the service of many of the mainland European train companies, the are very reliable and cheap.
